West Rise Forest School are awarded a Highly Commended award in the 2014 Total Green Awards!
Last month we entered West Rise’s Forest School project into the Total Green School Awards 2014, this is a national award run by Total and the Young People’s Trust for the Environment. I was delighted to receive confirmation over half term that West Rise Junior School’s entry was Highly Commended by the judges. They said: ‘Many congratulations to you and to all of the children and staff involved in the project. It was clear that a huge amount of work had gone into the entry.We received hundreds of excellent entries from over 35,000 children across England, Scotland and Wales. The standards were extremely high and the judges were all very impressed with the amount of new knowledge the children had acquired and by the immense amount of work teachers had put in to encourage the children’s interest in the environment.’
It is a fantastic achievement for our still relatively new Forest School. My huge thanks goes to all the adults on the Forest School team: Paul, Eve, Graham, Anita and Lisa who give their time so generously to make it happen each week.
